We are having a great time at Starbucks discussing An Altar in the World. This blog is to continue the discussion and invite those who can't come out on Wed. nights to join in. So far, we have read the intro and chapters 1-3. We spent a lot of time on reverence this week. One idea in the book is that simple rituals of everyday life invite a sense of reverence by slowing us down and allowing us to see the beauty and majesty of connection with God and each other. I found such a connection this week as my daughter and I prepared dinner together. Each of us taking turns chopping vegetables and sprinkling seasonings. There was a give and take in the process and the joy of knowing that soon we would sit down together, along with her dad/my husband and continue the connection as we ate.
What simple rituals do you observe that invite you to be reverent?
